Patton CL-2386R/DC - CopperLink Long Range Hybrid Copper-Fiber Ethernet Extender. Six (6) RJ-45 local Ethernet LAN Ports by PATTON
|
|
|
|
- Copper and Fiber - Extends Ethernet over copper or fiber cable plant. Allows copper extension spans
to switch and route onto fiber backbones. Enables redundant long-range copper and fiber rings.
- High Speed Transport - Achieves up to 15Mbps over 1 twisted pair. Symmetrical rates are
automatically adapted to the copper line conditions (noise environment, wire gauge/type and length).
- All Topologies - Supports point-to-point, multi-point, daisy-chain, and ring topologies.
- Long Range - Supports distances of 4 miles (6.5 km) for each span. The number of remote sites and
total distance is almost unlimited based on the bridging and repeating capabilities.
- QoS Traffic Prioritization - QoS Traffic Prioritization — Rate Limiting and Priority Queuing
functions enable prioritization of traffic types, such as time sensitive signaling or video streams.
IP/DSCP, VLAN 802.1Q, Priority Queuing.
- Packet Forwarding - A store and forward engine performs optimal packet forwarding, delivering the
lowest latency for end-to-end transfer.
- Cyber Secure - Firewall filtering, IPsec tunneling (with IKEv2 and Hub-and-Spoke functions), Simple
Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP), X.509 authentication and PKI enrolment.
- Ethernet & Digital I/O - Ethernet plus Digital Input and Output Extension, Distribution and
Routing. Six (6) RJ-45 local Ethernet LAN Ports, Two (2) gigabit Ethernet WAN SFPs, plus digital input, and
output contacts. Dual Local + Remote / North + South Long-Range Copper Extension Ports.
- Configuration & Management - via local USB port (Host/Device), via SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP, FTP
and intuitive Web User Interface.
Ruggedized - Built into sturdy metal enclosure offering operating temperatures from -20 to +60°C,
without fans, so it works in industrial environments with hot, cold, or humid conditions.
Flexible Mounting - It comes with DIN rail mounting kit for panel builds and can also be installed
in a 19” rack.

The CL2386R/DC is an Ethernet Extender, Switch and Router that delivers high speed connectivity for
Ethernet-over-Copper, Fiber or both. Offering 8 Ethernet Ports including 6 LAN and 2 SFP WAN ports together with
Northbound and Southbound facing Long-Range Extension ports, the CL2380R is ideal for integrating local
copper-based industrial ethernet to regional fiber backbones.
The unit offers six (6) RJ-45 local Ethernet LAN Ports, two (2) gigabit Ethernet WAN SFPs ports, two
(local/remote, north/south) long-range copper extension ports, plus digital input, and digital output ports for
controlling industrial devices, sensors, alarms, or controls.
As a combination Ethernet Extender, Ethernet Switch and Ethernet Router, the units offer Layer 3 capabilities
supporting IP protocols required for routing, management and security required for critical industrial
infrastructure.
A special relay switch between the two Copper Extension ports (local/remote, north/south) enables the unit to be
bypassed (directly connects the copper lines) if the unit is shut down.
A Digital Output interface is used as an Alarm Relay indicating the power status of the unit. When the unit is
powered OFF, this relay is closed (Alarm mode) and when the unit power is ON, this relay is open. Digital Inputs
support dry-contact mode, where the absence of voltage corresponds to zero (o) and a voltage of 5V to 15V DC
corresponds to 1. The Digital Input can be used for a variety of purposes subject to future or customized
firmware releases.
Security is enhanced with a laundry list of cyber features including firewall filtering, IPSec tunneling (with
IKEv2 and Hub-and-Spoke functions), Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP), X.509 authentication and PKI
enrolment. It embeds a Secure-Element for enhanced authentication certificate control, strong encryption of
stored information and Secure-Boot to ensure total security of both data and software.
